HQN's origins are in housing finance advice and training and remain a core part of its activities today. This support has been established for 17 years and now has a dedicated financial knowledge centre: hf:expert.
hf:expert's goal is to support achievement and ongoing excellence in financial and business management arrangements. hf:expert brings together resources across three key themes: business planning; VFM and efficiency; and financial management, as well as providing a source of intelligence across a range of activities and a timely fortnightly email update service. Members can also exchange ideas and solutions or post questions for hf:expert specialists and members to respond to. Finally, hf:expert appreciates the challenges of recruiting the right person or finding the right job. To support members to meet this challenge, hf:expert provides a jobs section to advertise and view finance jobs in the sector.

Q&A: hf:expert email support enables members to solve problems or find out how others are tackling similar issues by sharing experience. hf:expert summarises the responses and issues papers to all members
Send and share documents: Sharing documents such as procedures, policies and job descriptions allows all members to benefit from what already works for others
Events: Gain practical up to date advice on housing finance, with the chance to debate with and question experts
Jobs: Members can place and see vacancies on the website
